Raised in Western New York state by an orchestra conductor and a concert violinist, Shay Lynch established his Brooklyn-based studio for composing, recording, and producing music in 1997. Shay composes music for a variety of mediums, from film and television to dance and art installations. Shay does nearly all of his own session playing, and his richly textured compositions are wildly disparate in style and genre.
Shay's work has been featured on HBO, Nickelodeon, The Sundance Channel, MTV, TBS, Bravo, Trio, IFC, Lifetime, PBS and at The Sundance Film Festival, Loews Theatres, the IFC Center, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and The Guggenheim (NY). Shay has also scored several films that are part of MOMA's permanent collection. Currently, Shay is heard every month as the composer for the short film series "The Animated Life" at the New York Times online. He also scored the upcoming feature documentary Little Mom Full of Color, which will be released in late summer 2008.
